Initially introduced as an experimental feature in v3.0.0, the Google Translate plugin has been fully stabilized starting from v3.2.0.
Customize Google Translate Widget
You can easily customize the Google Translate widget through your Blogger Layout settings.
- Go to Blogger Layout.
- Find the LinkList widget with the title Google Translate, if you have not renamed it.
Good to know: The language specified in Blog Settings will be considered as the Page Language.
System Language Option
The System Language feature can automatically select the language based on the visitor’s browser language, improving user experience for international audiences.
To add it in the language selection list:
- Create a new link or edit an existing link in the Google Translate widget.
- Set the Site Name as system and the Button Text as its Site URL.
- You can use
#orcustom_textin the Site URL to use the default text, i.e., System Language.
Default Language
When System Language is enabled, you can choose whether the Page Language or System Language should be used as the default for your visitors.
To set the default language:
- Create a new link or edit an existing link in the Google Translate widget.
- Set the Site Name as default.
- Use page or system as the Site URL to choose the default language accordingly.
Language List
To add a new language to the Google Translate language selection list, create a link with the language code as its Site Name and the language name as its Site URL. You can also use # or custom_text in the Site URL to use the default text.

How to prevent a section from being translated?
To prevent an element from being translated by Google Translate, simply add a classname notranslate to it.
For an example, following element will not be translated:
